Max Fabian

Owner + Head Engineer

Max’s passion for music was solidified the first time he picked up a Gibson Flying V 1967 Reversion. He went on to play with rock n roll bands, producing hip-hop and collaborating with Chicago artists in all genres of music. He translated his audio production skills to Voice-Over and found what this city’s industry was missing. The bridge between the Artists and the Studio. He specializes in production, helping the client fully realize the potential of each and every project. Tightrope was founded with the mission to create a space where access to recording is available to everyone. The Tightrope team is here to support and produce for the Artists of Chicago and beyond.

Jason Kramer

Audio Engineer

Jayson Rose believes that good production comes from understanding the artist. Jayson began his journey over a decade ago as a writer and producer for indie rock band California Wives. It was through making these records that Jayson began to understand the process and patience required to make good music. After the Wives, Jayson began to teach music in Chicago while working as a producer and mixer at night. Eventually, Rose co-founded Rosebud Allday records, a Chicago-based label focusing on developing and mentoring young talent. Jayson currently works with artists such as Wyatt Waddell, Manny 10x, drea the dealer, Gem Tree, and many more.

About Us

Tightrope Recording was born in 2013, in the bedroom of Owner + Head Engineer Max Fabian. A musician and voice-over artist himself, Max understood the intricacies of being in front of the mic. He started his small business by offering voice-over demo reels to his artist friends at a reasonable cost. He would make music and hold recording sessions in that bedroom until moving to his first small office space in 2015 (no bigger than 10x14!). Over the years, the business has grown exponentially and now operates out of a beautiful office loft in Ravenswood, Chicago.

“Can't speak highly enough about Max and the work he did for my V/O demo tape. Professional guy, professional attitude, professional quality that I needed to up my voiceover game. Formatted and edited quickly too. Recommending all my musician friends to drop in and check out the room for sure!”

“These gentlemen were professional, efficient, and fun. Any actor interested in voiceover would be wise to make an appointment sooner rather than later. Additionally, they provided EVERYTHING; copy, equipment, coaching, underscoring, agency information - all I had to do was show up and read. Pricing isn't too high and they even offer a discount if you refer another artist. I had my final reel just three weeks after recording and that's with an additional session to rerecord some problem areas.”
